One Room Challenge Linking Event Week 5

I was so pumped when my rug arrived, only to be disappointed that it is 11 inches too big!!! Its beautiful, and would have been amazing against the black stair case but its too big.  To say I am disappointed is an understatement!!   Clearly they are not worried about putting exact measurements on their listings.

I am shipping it back, and wondering what the heck I am going to do.  I am going to check
 around my area and see what I can find.  I do have a dash and albert black and white runner that would work, not exactly my vision for the room, but could work.

Here is my original plan

Then it evolved to this.

This is the pattern of the rug I already own, so it could work if nothing else turns up.

  I am working away on the other elements of the room and will share all next week.

One Room Challenge Week Four

It is week four already on the One Room Challenge Linking Event, and I have made a bit more progress this week.  Not as much as I was planning on, but it is improving.

I put the table together, and I am really happy with how it turned out.  I still need to purchase some accessories to style it.  I have in mind some baskets underneath, a beautiful tray, and artwork.

Both from Target.

I also started  hanging mirrors that are going up the stairway.  It has a keyhole window and I thought a collection of mirrors would add interest and draw your eye up to it.  I still need to add a few more maybe smaller scale mirrors to round out the collection.

Items to finish

* purchase accessories
* finish wall of mirrors
* complete gallery wall
* hang light
* pray for rug to be delivered on time.

One Room Challenge Linking Event Week Three

It is week three of the One Room Challenge Linking event.  If you would like to check out my plans and process for my front hall for weeks one and weeks two.  I have made some progress, and some purchases.  My design is evolving as I go, since I hadn't sourced or planned much of anything before the challenge began.  I saw the event right before it started and thought it would be fun.

I ordered this rug off eBay and I am praying that it will arrive on time!
Here is how my new purchases will look all together.

 I have changed my mind with the floating credenza, instead I am going to do this narrow writing desk.  I feel like  the black will balance out the black of the staircase.

I still need to work on the gallery wall and collect vintage mirrors for the staircase wall, finish painting, source accessories, put together the desk........and lots more.  I'm not worried as long as I get the rug, the rest I can get done.

Weekly Wishes # 2

Happy Thanksgiving  to my fellow Canadians,  I am enjoying a quiet day at home with my family today.  I thought I would post my weekly wishes linkup that Melyssa from The Nectar Collective hosts.

Here is the recap of last weeks goals.

* Try to write three blog posts this week, and luckily this counts as one. Only got two done, but that's  better then none

* Spend some quality time working on my new website and blog design. Somewhat accomplished this one.

One Room Challenge Week 2

I am well on my way into implementing my design for the one room challenge linking event.  I have started on painting and sourcing some products for my front hall.  Here is my original plan.

Here is how my front hall looked before.

 I have started painting, keep in mind that this is only one coat on most of the surfaces and its a horrible picture taken at night!  Even so,  it is already looking much improved.

I am having a hard time sourcing a rug, I have been outbid a ton of times for some killim rugs on eBay, but I feel like it may be a blessing in disguse since I am now considering something slightly different.

  I am now leaning towards this rug, I feel like it would look amazing up against the black staircase.  I would love any thoughts on this matter.

I found this amazing light on etsy, I just have to make sure that it can be delivered in time for the reveal.

I still have to figure out the cabinet, I am also considering a vintage dresser or credenza.  My thought process is that if I did a smaller dresser I could add in a chair or a bench.  Which means some fun fabric.

 I will keep up all the hard work, and hopefully I will have lots of progress for next week.
